TOUR OVERVIEW
Price From : 1800 Baht
Do a one-day trek in the lush forest of the Mae Tang area and combine it with some quality time taking care and bathing of the elephants. Whitewater rafting is included too!
TOUR DESCRIPTION
After being picked up from your Chiang Mai hotel, we will head north to the Mae Tang area. From there, we will hike for two hours through a lush forest and follow a little stream to a waterfall in the jungle, where you may cool off with a refreshing shower. After hiking through the jungle, you will arrive at the rafting camp. There, you will board white-water rafting boats and paddle down the Mae Tang River for five kilometres. This section of the river has some significant rapids during the rainy season! After finishing the white water rafting, you'll have time for a hearty lunch before boarding the waiting vehicle and traveling the short distance to the elephant camp. Here, the elephants spend a lot of time socialising with the few trekkers that are brought here and having freedom to move around. You will spend approximately two hours at the elephant camp with the company of these magnificent creatures. The highlight of the visit is during elephant bath time, when you can assist the elephants in taking their daily bath (bring a swimsuit!). You will also get to see the elephants up close and learn how to care for them. At the end of the course, you will also learn how to create a natural elephant scrubber out of wild vines and how to produce traditional elephant medicine using natural ingredients. You will be taken to the waiting vehicle at the end of the day, where you will be brought back to Chiang Mai and transferred to your hotel.

Trekking in this part of Thailand is very safe and accidents are very rare but still safety is always a priority. A limited amount of accident insurance is provided to cover some medical bills in case of an injury but it is advised that you have your own comprehensive accident insurance. Before commencement of the white water rafting you will have a safety briefing..
Wear light clothes as trekking in this part of the world can be hot and sweaty work. Shorts, T shirt and a sun hat are ideal. Long trousers are OK as they will protect your lower legs more but will be hotter to wear. Although hiking boots aren’t a necessity at least a sturdy pair of running shoes should be worn. Some people trek with sandals but they do leave your feet open to be scratched by vegetation also flip flops (thongs) arena’t appropriate as they don't provide enough support. In the rainy season from April to October bring a rain coat. Please bring a dry change of clothes for after the rafting.
A small rucksack/day sack, shorts and T shirt for trekking (long trousers if you prefer), Walking shoes, socks, swimming suit, small towel/sarong, insect spray, sun cream, Raincoat (rainy season), some toilet paper, One bottle of water. Some money for drinks and hill tribe crafts if you want to buy.
