The full-day Elephant Jungle Sanctuary experience will allow you plenty of time to enjoy and bond with the elephants residing at this sanctuary nestled in a valley in the Mae Wang area.
TOUR DESCRIPTION
The pick-up run begins in the city of Chiang Mai from 8:00 am and hopefully, everyone is picked up and ready to go by 8:30 am. You will be transported out of Chiang Mai for about 40 minutes before turning off the main highway towards the hills and mountains of the Mae Wang area. The drive will continue for a further 40 minutes to the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary which is situated in the river valley. The program will begin with the guide giving you an introduction to the Asian elephant and some background information on the elephants which reside at the sanctuary. Next, it will be time to meet the elephants! The elephant meeting session at the Elephant Jungle Sanctuary is very informal and you can feed, mingle and get up close to all the elephants and this is a great time to take some photos. After the elephant's feeding time it will be your turn to eat and a buffet lunch will be provided. After dinner, you will learn how to make herbal medicines for the elephants (which you can feed to them later). It will then be time again to get up close with the elephants as you will walk them to their mud pit. The elephants love nothing more (except eating perhaps) they rolling around in their mud pit, no need to feel left out! as you will be welcome to join them in their mud bath and feel free to get muddied up with them. The next activity will be to bathe the elephants in the river. The elephants will need very little persuasion to get to the river as they thoroughly enjoy their daily bath, you can get also get involved and spend time scrubbing them in the stream. It will now be late afternoon and time to say a final farewell to the elephants before changing clothes and boarding the transport back to Chiang Mai.
