Chiang Mai Whitewater
Rafting |
|
| Over the last few years whitewater
rafting in the north of Thailand has become a big
draw with many companies offering rafting trips
and many combining hill tribe trekking trips with
whitewater rafting. During the peak of the rafting
season the rivers can produce some very exiting
grade 3-5 rapids. Aside from the rafting the rivers
are set in some of some of Northern Thailand’s most
stunning tropical scenery making a stunning backdrop
for your rafting trip |

| Chiang Mai area |
|
| Most of the whitewater rafting takes
place north of Chiang Mai on The Mae Tang River
This is also a popular trekking area so there are
plenty of opportunities to combine whitewater rafting
trips with hill tribe trekking. |

| Pai area |
|
| The Pai River and its tributary the
Nam Kong River provide the best whitewater rafting
around the Pai and Mae Hong Son areas. Again during
the wet season grade 3-4 rapids are produced. The
raftable lengths of the rivers here are longer than
you will find in the Chiang Mai area and whitewater
rafting trips from 40 to 70km are offered over 1
or 2 days. Again there are options to combine the
rafting with the trekking. |
